Description

The Pozzato aggregate recovery plant installed in Mistelbach, Austria, was initially supplied in 2014 to treat 70 tph of alluvial material 0 – 32 mm. In 2024, the project was further upgraded to:

  • double the production capacity to 140 tph of 0 – 100 mm material;
  • improve the cleaning of final products with dimensions from 4 to 32 mm, even when processing very difficult aggregates which include sticky clay;
  • enhance the overall quality of the final products, by removing contaminants included in the feeding material, like pieces of wood, plastic or roots;
  • further optimise fines recovery and sand quality.

To achieve these goals, the following Pozzato machines were installed:

  1. A vibrating pre-washing screen, in order to remove the fraction > 32 mm, send the fraction 2 – 32 mm into the existing log washer, and send the fraction 0 – 2 mm into the sand washing unit.
  2. A sand washing plant with a dewatering screen, enable to:
    • treat the slurry coming from the pre-washing screen containing < 2 mm solids;
    • treat the over-flow coming from the existing bucket wheel to recover any possible fines still included in it;
    • remove silt and clay included in the < 4 mm fraction;
    • reduce the humidity included in the final sands;
    • produce a 0 – 4 mm “coarse” sand and a 0 – 2 mm “fine” sand, with the option to dose the fine sand into the coarse one based on customer needs.
  3. A dewatering screen for light particles, used to treat the slurry coming from the log washer, in order to remove the floating particles (such as wood and plastic, which are stockpiled separately) from water and any < 4 mm fines, which are sent to the existing bucket wheel.
  4. A pumping system, consisting of a sump and pump, which transfers the over-flow from the existing bucket wheel into the new sand treatment unit, in order to recover fines.
